The definition of vintage is considered to be clothing or accessories that are from the 1920’s to 20 years before the present day. However, this might be controversial as contemporary world is constantly changing and, therefore, we have things that are simply old and those which are valuable vintage pieces. Furthermore, the question what makes such pieces vintage still remains unanswered. The clear thing though is that it takes a gift for someone to discover or predict what will be treasured after 20 years.

One thing to look at while talking about vintage fashion is vintage sewing patterns. These things are there to collect in order to have a glimpse of the past; also, they leave a chance to adapt vintage clothing to everyone’s liking. How? Well, it is rare nowadays to find a piece of vintage clothing that really fits your shape. Let’s admit that 21st century has a way different body  ‘icons’ than people 50 years ago and, yes, Cara has definitely replaced Marilyn in a way. So, a good clothier will know what adjustments to make if he has the pattern to start with. These gorgeous envelopes filled with patterns provide us an opportunity to tame the vintage and also leave a hell of a lot of inspiration for future garments.

Taking a look into the most recent years it is extremely noticeable that vintage felt its renaissance. People are no longer afraid to wear their ancestors’ clothes and/or accessories. On the contrary, today’s fashionistas mix and match vintage clothing with Christian Louboutin’s stilettos, Chanel bags circa 1920’s come in handy on the red carpet, plus, there are some real vintage lovers who dress in it from head to toe.

Finally, I leave with some pictures of a fresh face in blogosphere. This half Aussie, half Danish girl really knows how to style vintage with contemporary fashion, but at the same time, she’s not afraid to wear only vintage. And why should she? I must admit, she’s gorgeous anyway!
